Founded in 2023 to commercialise technology from the Visual and Intelligent Systems Laboratory at Chung-Ang University.
IPIS Lab creates the situations an AI has never seen, and teaches them to it.
AI projects rarely fail on the algorithm. They fail at the moment someone discovers there is nothing to train on. Models can be downloaded; the training data for your site cannot be bought anywhere.
We turn that from a collection problem into a generation problem. Physics-based simulation and generative AI synthesise rare and hazardous conditions at scale, with ground-truth labels attached automatically (DataSynOps). We then use that data to read infrastructure imagery directly (InfraSafe AI).
The company was founded in 2023 to commercialise technology from the Visual and Intelligent Systems Laboratory at Chung-Ang University, and has since delivered paid work across defense, environment, infrastructure and manufacturing.
How we got here
Thirty years of imaging research, turned into an execution team
Professor, Department of Imaging Science, Chung-Ang University. Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Northwestern University (1990). Over thirty years in image processing and computer vision, with numerous national R&D programs led as principal investigator for the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Founded IPIS Lab in 2023 to commercialise the laboratory's technology.
